There is still an inestimable potential for creative power yet to be tapped before humankind achieves enlightenment on a mass scale. It has taken the entirety of recorded human history to achieve the level of courage, and yet, it is only 20% of the way up Dr.

It takes a great deal of courage to be neutral. But, courage is merely the beginning of our access to true creative power. What comes after courage is neutrality and, according to Hawkins, neutrality is where we first begin truly expressing creative power.

To overcome pride requires great courage, which is the threshold between the lower energies (destructive force) to the higher energies (creative power). The energies of pride are still pervasive as are the energies that calibrate lower than pride. We may have achieved the level of courage as a collective average, but the reality is the majority of the world’s population still expresses the energy of pride and the lower forms that fall beneath it, including fear, desire, grief, apathy, guilt, and shame, among others. Up until the early 20th century, we have largely been demonstrating the force of pride, rather than the power of courage. Hawkins maintains that the collective vibration of humankind globally is just above 200, after being calibrated for centuries at the level of pride, somewhere below 200. Just below the level courage at 200, is the energy of pride, which calibrates from 175-199. Master teachers like Jesus and Buddha calibrate at the top end of the “map,” which Hawkins designates as Enlightenment. David Hawkins’ “map of consciousness,” courage first registers at the level of 200 on an ascending logarithmic scale of creative power that goes to 1000. It is important to realize that the calibration figures do not represent an arithmetic but a logarithmic progression. In Dr. Hawkins explains the classification and characteristics of these energy fields to make them easily comprehensible and useful in daily life. Hawkins defined a range of values that correspond to levels of consciousness which include well-recognized attitudes and emotions. The decisive level of is the fulcrum that divides the general areas of force and power. Levels below are detrimental to life in both the individual and society at large those above are constructive expressions of power. Being conscious is more than just being physically awake.

It has helped me understand why I act the way I do, and that my reactions are never a permanent part of me but a reflection of my consciousness level. For me, the map of consciousness has been very helpful in helping me identify my current state of growth, to understand my own blind spots, and to identify next steps to further raise my consciousness. Secondly, this map lists all the different levels of consciousness we can attain, thus serving as a critical framework for conscious living. When we can identify our starting point, we can then create an action plan to improve. One can not truly know something until they have experienced it and so we must all eventually pass through every level, from the lowest, fear based realms to those of the highest enlightened consciousness.Ĭancel anytime. These ultimately provide the foundation for elevated consciousness.

The lower levels contain core lessons that we all must learn at some point in order to attain the full realm of the human experience with all its highs, lows and challenges. We have all been at low levels of consciousness in certain lifetimes as it is a necessary requisite for achieving the higher planes of awareness. Each persons unique choices and experiences are valid as they contain a different set of learning opportunities that teach an individual a specific set of lessons that are tailored to their unique level of consciousness. HJ: The level of consciousness scale described below the Hawkins Scale is not intended to pigeon hole you into a numerical framework that defines you as a person - it is merely a highly accurate and useful way to understand where one is in terms of conscious awareness.
